XS2 Thunderdelve Mountain is a pretty extensive solo module for a Dwarf. I'm sure that it can be played as a different race and class. I never did. I just never really got into this one. It is just fine as a module, and fun, yet what I wish is that there were an entire series of solo modules. They created a handful - but nowhere near enough to actually support bringing a character from 1st level to immortal status. Maybe someone should get on that. A mega solo module - one for each class actually - that takes you from humble 1st level beginnings all the way to immortal status. Yes, I would like that.
As a group module, this is pretty decent. It takes some work on the part of the DM to get everything set up. To be honest it is easier just to play through it and map everything and figure out everything through actual solo play, then running it will be MUCH easier. There are also recommendations listed in the module for changes to be made to convert from a solo adventure to a group adventure. That makes everything much easier. There are even suggestions for follow-on adventures the characters can experience after finishing off the quest in the module. Again - these are good suggestions. I've never run this module with a group so I don't actually know how well it would or wouldn't work. But it seems to me that it would work pretty smoothly and be a decently fun adventure.
