X4 Master of the Desert Nomads takes the characters into the desert to face an evil enemy army to the west of Darokin. I have to admit, I like this module. It is the first part of a 2 parter and it just flows. There is a clear mission, not an easy mission by any means, but definitely a clear mission. There are a variety of encounters for the players to overcome. It is a tough, challenging module. There is lots of hack and slash, along with several encounters that force players to rely on their wits versus their brawn. And this clearly leads to the next module - no breaks or anything else.
The next module is X5 Temple of Death and I'll discuss that one later. This module - man - I just like it. You could have the characters experience some encounters in their travels to Darokin to help with this menacing evil army if you like. You could have the characters spend LOTS of time performing sneak raids on the master army - although it won't make that big a difference, it could still be fun to kill lots of evil creatures. But since there are 1000s of creatures in the army, eventually the characters should probably get back on track and continue the adventure. Beyond adjusting encounter strengths, I don't really make any meaningful changes to this module. I like it.
