O1 Blade of Vengeance is a pretty well-thought-out module. It sucks that almost the entire hero's family dies at the beginning - but I guess that is the way it is. Personally, I've never run this module in a one-on-one setting. I have run it with a group of characters - just beef up the encounters and you have a pretty damn good Alfheim adventure. A family of red dragons, an army of humanoids terrorizing the forest and killing everyone with plans to march on Alfheim itself - yea - definitely good stuff!
The one-on-one aspect of this module is OK. I still prefer parties to one-on-one adventures, and this adventure can very easily be altered to support a party versus just a single character. The adventure itself is sound. With a party of characters, there is definitely more opportunity for fighting the raiding humanoids and saving the various areas just in the nick of time. That means lots of killing! I enjoy that a lot. Maybe the characters employ hit-and-run tactics against the red dragon army until they realize that the ranks are growing faster than they can kill and that the only viable solution is to defeat the leader of the army - the top red dragon itself!
