OK - here is another one of my favorite basic-level modules. I mean - seriously - this module could take characters from level 1 to level 36 and even the immortal levels by a really motivated DM. By the time characters manage to get through all the described areas they should be well into the expert levels. And the module leaves the possibility open of further even higher-level caverns below the underground city. I mean this module is just unlimited in scope.
It will take some work on the part of the DM if they want to extend this module out of a full-blown campaign module. But seriously - who knows what is buried further below the city - it could be a 2nd even bigger lost city. The characters could become rulers of a vast underground civilization that they reunite. They could travel deep into the earth discovering all kinds of secrets and treasures. They could lead their new people in a war against another underground race. Wow - my mind just races with the possibilities!
However, just playing this module as a side module in the larger campaign is certainly entertaining as well. This loony underground race with its various factions and masks presents unlimited role-playing opportunities - versus the more typical hack-and-slash scenarios. For me, this is a definite module to play or DM!
